Welcome to The Man of God blog. Here I’ll be exploring a forgotten body of knowledge: The virtues.
What are the virtues? The virtues are the essential to a good character. In fact, the word virtue is from the word virtus which means manliness, excellence, and goodness. And so virtue is seen as essential to becoming a man. So as Christian men striving to be men of God, we have to know what the virtues are.

Traditionally, the seven virtues are the four cardinal virtues of Prudence, Justice, Restraint (or Temperance), and Courage (or Fortitude); and the three theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love (or Charity). Incidentally, N. T. Wright has a book out on Christian character, reviewed by Trevin Wax. Wax writes, ‘[Wright] makes the case for distinctively Christian virtue, showing how the New Testament authors go above and beyond Aristotle by promoting a view of virtue that is cross-shaped and hope-driven.’
Ok, let’s resurrect this blog, shall we?
